After spending 5 years doing coop, and having to move every four months I have come to uncover some basic rules about moving:
- never pack your computer first
- travel light, the less you have, the less you need to pack, the less you lose
- you will always forget something
- you will discover how much stuff you can accumulate over your short stay
- you won't have enough boxes for all the stuff you accumulated
- the more you sell/give away, the less you need to move
- textbooks are heavy... so don't buy them or sell them when you are done
- having roomies is awesome, it helps with the moving. But remember it goes both ways, you have to move their stuff sooner or later
- don't put off packing till the last day. Apperances can be deceiving, you have more stuff than you think
- having a car is good, a mini van is better, but the best is to have a truck
- don't pack your pots with your dishes. Metal > Porcelaine.

Legal issues with music
Since I am a little bit bored, I decided to setup a Ubuntu Linux box to play with. I have been hearing all these things about the distro that made me curious. The beauty of Linux is its open sourceness ( not sure if that is even a word). However, it is also because of that feature that it is a pain in the neck.
Ubuntu's installation was pretty straight forward, but I still have some pet peeves about it. First, the latest version of Ubuntu 7.04 did not recognize my mouse and keyboard making it impossible to install. So I had to install a previous version and upgrade to the latest one. Also, the partitioning tool is not very user friendly. Maybe I am just partition challenged or something, but it took me a couple of tries to make head or tails about what it was suppose to do. Finally, I spent a whole day setting up mp3 playback. Now to be fair, the only reason mp3 playback does not come standard with Linux is because of copyright laws. I discovered the use of Automatix. With one click, I was able to install all the required softwares and codecs. Yay for me~ So all in all, it was fun setting it up. But now that it is all up and running, I discovered that it is pretty much the same with any of the other distro I played with previously. There might be some small changes or difference, but in general it is pretty much the same. Maybe it is because I am so used to using the command line instead of the gui. :p or maybe it is because I only use it to surf the web, check my email, watch movies, and listen to music. Maybe I should try using it as a development tool or something.

NDS + WiFi = Da Win
So I figured I might as well try out this wifi thing on my DS since I am about to leave Waterloo. Good way to kick my roomies or ex-roomies ass via the internets. haha...
Man this feature so rocks. Gotta get back to kicking people asses.

Mario Kart did not prepare me for this
I went go carting yesterday with a couple of friends. It was fun, but too short. We did 10 laps of 2km. Also it wasn't as fast as I would have liked it, but it does not matter. :) I kicked Clement's ass a couple of times. But he got back at me by bumping me all the way.
We also went to eat at this Japanese BBQ place near Pacific mall. Not too bad, but I think I ate too much again.

Koreans rejoice...
Starcraft 2 is coming. I just finished watching the cinematic trailer for SC2 for the tenth time and damn it looks sexy. I know those aren't in game graphics, but Blizzard has not failed me yet. Speaking of which I think I will be resuming WoW in about two weeks. :P

So it begins
I just submitted my accepted thesis to Graphics and by that started my first steps into the real world. When I came back home, I installed Vista and was wowed by the MS eye candy, then proceeded to curse and fix all the little quirks that make Windows, well Windows. It took a little bit of getting used to, but I ended up making Vista look like Windows 2000 again. Hahaha, I wonder why I even bothered upgrading. Oh wait, I got Vista for free. :) Still worth it? Well, time will tell.
Today is also the day I start off reusing blogger as I start to support my mother company as opposed to the competitors. ( Sorry Lawrence) :p I got to admit, lots of things have changed since the days of "Musings of a MICE". Also, I feel really rusty from not blogging for a while. My sentences do not flow.
